Google has opened access to the developer preview for the Connected Apps Platform. Developers can apply to the platform; apps approved by Google can carry out tasks within AI Mode in Search and Gemini.
According to Search Engine Journal, published developer documentation outlines the application route and the conditions under which apps can be selected. Platform policies prohibit misleading app descriptions and rules that attempt to steer the selection of other tools. This update is not a general rollout granting automatic access to all apps, but a preview requiring an application and approval.
